"You can prepare a lifetime for one moment"

If that one moment can mean the difference between living and dying, or worse someone you love and care about living or dying, every second you will have spent, because you were someone who "believed that it could happen" and found it worthwhile of your time to prepare yourself , your kids, your families, will become well worth it!

If, however, you are someone who never believed that it could happen, and therefore didn't find preparation to be worth your time and effort, and it does happen, every second you never spent will become a big, big problem.

It Starts With "Believing that it can happen"

The number one reason why people fail to prevent and survive incidents-of-violence without injury or death? Because they don't believe anything will ever happen to them. Think about it: If you truly beleived that something bad could happen to you, you would do something to prevent it and, if prevention efforts fail, prepare to win and go home. Your security is directly tied to this. It all starts with "believing that it can happen". Those who most successfully prevent victimization and winand go home when prevention efforts failed "believed that it could happen" and therefore took steps to prepare themselves.

The Responsibility is Yours

Society has taught us that we can successfully rely on others, and things, to keep us secure. Things like law enforcement, alarms, cameras, applications, fences, door locks. The fact, is nothing, or no one, can keep us secure, except ourselves. Regardless of desire, time, and money spent, it is impossible for your employer to guarantee your security.

Ultimately, your security is your responsibility! That means that it's up to you to utilize the resources that are being provided in this learning resource to understand the things that will keep you secure, like knowing and following policies and procedures, and holding everyone else accountable to do the same, and training because you want to rather than because you are forced to.

It's up to you. It's not what you get out of the mandatory training, it's what you do to further that. It's about lifestyle and being a part of a culture that supports true security and starts at home - with you and your family.

The resources are here. Use them because you want to rather than because you have to!
